7 Bar 11 Ranch is a third-generation, family-operated cattle ranch led by the Oates family. Chris Oates, owner and operator, manages daily ranch operations with a hands-on approach, supported by his wife, Brenda. Their children, Garrett and Delaney, represent the next generation of the ranch, continuing a family tradition built on care, honesty, and performance.
Meet Chris Oates
Chris Oates is the owner and operator of 7 Bar 11 Ranch and brings decades of hands-on experience to every cattle program managed at the ranch.
With more than 40 years in the cattle industry, Chris has worked across multiple segments of the business, giving him a practical, well-rounded understanding of cattle feeding, grazing management, and animal performance. He previously co-owned and operated Huntsville Livestock, gaining firsthand experience in market expectations, cattle condition, and the importance of preparation before sale.
Chris spent 30 years in the preconditioning business, developing programs focused on animal health, consistency, and readiness for the next phase of production. In addition, he brings 25 years of experience in the exotic wildlife business, adding further depth to his knowledge of genetics, nutrition, and specialized management.
The family relocated to Crews, Texas four years ago, where Chris continues to apply the same principles that have guided his career: attention to detail, honest communication, and accountability for results.
His philosophy is simple and unwavering:
